Creating a Safe Enviornment (CASE)

Creating a Safe Environment (CASE)

Ensuring the safety of our children and vulnerable populations is a priority for Peace of Christ Parish and the Diocese of Rochester.

CASE Training Procedures

Please Note: Creating A Safe Environment (CASE) training and certification is a 3-step process.

Step 1: Online Training

  • Volunteers train online through the Online CASE Training for Adults. (All volunteers under the age of 70 must be retrained every three years.)  If you will be a volunteer driver, you must complete this DMV Volunteer Driver Check Form. Drivers must complete this form each year and return to the parish office.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to complete training online, you may schedule a training in person with Emily Kwiatkowski (585-288-5000, ext. 121 or [email protected]).
  • Volunteers must sign the Diocesan Volunteer Code of Conduct for Adults AND return it to the Parish Office.
  • NEW Volunteers must create their own account in the Online Learning Center to access CASE.

Step 2: Background Check

  • Volunteers must undergo a Criminal Record Check (18 and older) before they begin their volunteer work by signing and returning form to the parish office.
  • For volunteers under the age of 18, training must be done in person. Contact Emily Kwiatkowski at (585)288-5000, ext. 121 or at [email protected] to arrange for this training.

Step 3: Provide Parish Office with Documentation

Once you have completed the online training, be sure to send in the following to the parish office:

  1. Signed volunteer code of conduct
  2. Criminal record check (for 18 years of age and older)
  3. Copy of your driver’s license or other form of ID (social security card or valid passport)
  4. Completion certificate

REMINDER: **Volunteers under age 18 must complete CASE Training online (link here) and In Person only.**

Tips for Training or Retraining Online

  • Only one volunteer may take the Quiz at a time. Two volunteers taking one quiz is not allowed.
  • Users must disable their web browser’s pop-up blocker.
  • Users must be using a computer connected to a printer to print CASE Certificate. If there is no access to a printer, users may either save the files as a .pdf, take a Screen Shot, or take a photo of said documents and send them to the Parish CASE Coordinator via e-mail. Volunteers may also complete CASE training at a parish or school computer with access to a printer.

Thank you for volunteering!
